GlowSkin is a durable long-lasting glow-in-the-dark harsh environment coating used primarily in safety applications providing dark dangerous areas a strong nite-light. When fully charged by the sun or auxiliary lights, the nite-light GlowSkin lasts brilliantly for 2 hours. This material is embodied ClearSkin which delivers an extremely tough weather resistant coating. It exhibits excellent durability regarding resistance to abrasion, chemicals and sunlight. Being very tough, it is used primarily in exterior high-wear environments where severe topcoat protection is required. Although GlowSkin may be used directly on many types of surfaces, it is normally used over a reflective base-coat color such as white, yellow or silver to add more to the reflective-glow. GlowSkin top-coat is available in Green and Blue. Mixing together gives a gentle aqua or light teal.

GlowSkin is a very intense high-performance glow material used in military ships, transportation subways and tunnels, amusement parks, parking decks, office building stairwells, boat docks and the art world. It provides excellent adhesive characteristics and can withstand arctic freezing or desert hot conditions.

Technical Application Data

GlowSkin is a two component 100% solids aliphatic formulation which does not contain VOCs. Surface application temperatures ranges from 30°F to 120°F. Rollable working time at 75°F is 20 minutes. If hand batch mixing, stir by hand or jiffy mixer for 1 minute carefully as to not induce air into liquid. Functional operation temperature ranges from -40°F to 175°F. Final top-coat application surface is slick and glossy smooth. Recommended wet film thickness is 16 mils. Coverage at 16 mils is 100 sq. ft./ mixed gal.

Substrate Surface Preparation

Preparation of substrate surface prior to the application of a SuperSkinSystem is extremely important to achieve proper system bonding.

Concrete must be fully cured and should be prepared with a sandblasting, diamond grinding or machine sanding depending on the severity of the concrete surface condition. Similar proper preparation must be performed for metals. Primers also require this proper preparation. Always power clean using mild detergent prior to sanding, etc. Call Tech Support Group for assistance with selecting SSS application system. Also read the Application Page on this website. If patching concrete, use our mineral filled fast-set Acrylic Modified Epoxy applied by trowel. For expansion joints, use Joist Seal applied by hand cartridge dispensing gun. It is always best to perform a test within a small section of the application area prior to full scale engagement.
